380hp & 626lb-ft is some continent crossing power, thats helped out by 35mpg. They already have a platform to use with the Panamera and we know Porsche loves filling niches. 928 revival anyone?
A diesel 911 makes no sense and would piss off the purists, a diesel GT though ….

Porsche excels at pissing off purists, which is what makes a Diesel 911 slightly more likely. Still probably not going to happen though.

Waiting for the GT3 RS to be powered by a diesel with a CVT.

The 911 is melted VW beetle. Not a Corvette. The engine is in the wrong place. (FYI the correct place is between the front and rear axles.)

While I agree, this comparison is still obvious.

I wanted the pananamara to be the 928, and it seemed like it was for a bit then we saw the back end... yuck,

Cayman technically meets the "correct place" criteria. :o

A diesel GT with 380 hp and 626 lbs-ft is still going to have the performance of a 380 hp car, not be some monster. It will feel nice when you put your foot down from a low rev cruise, but then fall on its face when you're ready to wind it out. There's a reason diesel is used in big, heavy, non-sporty vehicles: it's strong, not fast.

I feel I should of clarified this was in my head the bottom of the range for the car. Something along the lines of the 640d. Also diesel is used in every kind of car. It makes sense for more relaxed driving aka a GT and not a sports car.
